I was born in Dundee just after the war, a city greatly different from the city that exists today. Dundee once known for jute, jam and journalism has lost the jute trade used up the jam and only Desperate Dan and Minnie the Minx still write copy there.

I left Dundee in the late sixties and as I find to my cost, when trying to drive round the place, that my mind map is circa the late fifties and great swathes of the city no longer existing.

A couple of years before I retired I had what could only be described as an epiphany on day on my way to work. I saw in my minds eye the complete story line of a book based around an aspect of the Dundee that I had not even given a thought to for some forty years. Having written nothing before except technical specifications and business letters I found myself jotting down ideas and paragraphs which eventually became a book, as yet unpublished.

Now retired I find myself with more time to write and feel that it is time to try to learn more about the craft.

My main interest is historical fiction. Currently reading Victor Hugo.
