Bad Timing

What are you doing?
Why are you still standing here?
Please leave, even though you know
I want you to stay.

In the darkness we are safe
because you can't see my face,
and I can't see yours.
But I don't have to,
to know what you're feeling.

Your hand finds mine,
and neither of us blink,
because we haven't changed,
we haven't changed a bit.

There is movement,
and we don't say a word,
because we've felt the same for years,
and we know where this is going,
and we know it's not a crime,
but it's still wrong,
because it feels a little late,
a little like bad timing.

There is an inner struggle,
then a silent surrender.

We don't say a word,
because we don't know what to say,
besides the inevitable.
Everything we need is here.
Everything we fear is here.

I really like this piece and am intrigued to know what it is about, an affair? a relationship that would meet parents disapproval? x

Thank you.

It's about a couple who've fallen in and out of love many times because it has always been bad timing for them.
