The in-between

I am the in-between,
the ruck and crease -
    the fold of things,
        the flap;

I am the overlooked -
    the spine,
        the book between the books;

I am the underneath,
    the shadow of the seat -
    I am the coal
        undug, the seam
unseen;

    the worm cast;

the cobweb in the sun;

    I am the frost
        to come;

I am the snow;

    I am the shell -
        the shell that cracks
underfoot, the sand

    as soft as dust
        in dusk,

the breeze, the sleet,
    the fringes of the season;

I am the fringe
    that sees
        and comes;

the fringe
    that goes
        unfelt
    between breezes;

the unknown;

    I am the in-between
        of dreams.

To be perfectly honest I'm not in to poetry, but there is something in this that really touches me. Rowland

Enjoyed this poem.Reminded me of a phase I went through of taking photographs with my digital camera of things that weren't really anything.Corners of things,gaps between things sections,close ups.parts of things.

I found this strange activity fascinating seemed to fulfill a need to see the unseen or overlooked in it's own light. Your poem does this for me too.
