The Writers' Circle

I decided I wanted to retire aged 57, this time from choice,  and pursue interests that I had. One challenge was to finish writing a book that I had been trying to write about cases of Benefit Fraud that I had investigated. My Civil Service career came to an end after a suspect I was investigating threatened my life and robbed me of official documents. He lost over £4m of stolen property and went to prison as result of my actions. 

When he was released from prison I was again asked to investigate him but this time I had a nervous breakdown and retired on grounds of ill health. Over the last 10 years I have written poems about my experiences and tried to finish the book. The book, 'Benefit Thieves' is finally finished - hopefully. I found this website  at the end of November 2009 and thought what a brilliant arena as I am looking for constructive feedback in the hopes that I will get it into print. 

The book, 90,000 words, is based on real cases of Benefit Fraud, a bit about me and about what was wrong with the policy behind investigating fraud. Names and places have been changed to avoid anybody being identified.
