The polar ice caps melt beneath the sun
And land that once we trod will be no more
The change that was predicted has begun.

Vast hurricanes, the likes not seen before
Bring death and desolation to our land
Amidst the lashing rain and thund'rous roar.

Disease and poverty go hand in hand
And soon they multiply a thousand fold
To ravage towns and cities once so grand.

Pollutionists of filth whose souls are sold
Care not for preservation of this earth
The glint of gold is all their eyes behold.

While others starve they just increase their worth
As poison fills the air and nature dies
What then my friend when there's no sound of mirth?

It can be stopped if we open our eyes.

This is a beautiful poem (though I am a global-warming skeptic)! I've never come across that form before
- I like it very much.

Happy writing!

Well written. A chilling representation of the difficulties we face today.

Keep it up.
