Rehearsing

I've been rehearsing
To counterblast your condescending bile
Whipping up one liners to put you in your place
So I'll be ready when the moment comes
With the right words to say

I've been practising
Getting funny looks as I walk along the road
As I speculate and gesticulate with my role play
Ready for the day
With the right words to say

In the shop and on the bus
I wag my finger shake my head, I swear and I curse
I'm a nice person and it doesn't come quick
To be cruel right back like flicking a switch
It makes me shake and scowl and twitch
Getting it right in my head
With the right words to be said

I'll be no push over anymore, no ones fool
At home and at work and right through school
I could only ever smile or turn the other cheek
It's a red rag to a bully when they think you are weak
I'm not talking to myself when I behave this way
I'm perfecting my act and I'll blow you away

I loved it - I'm sure we've all done this at some time. Well done!

I just loved the "red rag to a bully" pun - very clever, and very true! I can identify with this sentiment - I've been there.

Just one thing: "I've been practicing/ Getting funny looks..." It took me three readings to realize you didn't mean "I've been practicing getting funny looks". Maybe change "Getting" to "Though I get"?

Loved it! Keep it up! ;)

Yeah, I loved the 'red rag to a bully' line too.

Good job.

Keep it up.

Loved this poem - its the kind of thing we've all been through and usually only afterwards do we think oh I should have said that.. but like I'm always advising my daughter even if you're quaking inside show no fear and think of something really clever to say.

i like the idea behind the poem but it sounds as if you tried too hard to make it rhyme, and that always lessens the quality of poetry...
