Thank you both. Right, the magazine doesn't pay in cash. I get a free copy, but unlike web based mags, many of which are willing to publish anything, First Edition is physically printed and sold worldwide. The copy of the mag I have contains some really good stuff. I imagine that if they want to sell and succeed, then the rubbish writers won't be entertained. (Not blowing my own trumpet here). They are providing a link in the mag to my web site, so sales of my novel may increase. For me, the most important thing is getting my name to the masses. The same goal should be for every writer.
Each issue has about 60,000 words of poetry and stories. One of the benefits for me is that no 'women's magazines will touch what I write and First Edition caters for many tastes.
There are people on this site that are very good writers. I suggest you look at their site: http://www.firsteditionpublishing.co.uk/ and submit something. Who knows, it could lead to better things. Plus, as it is a 'proper' magazine, anything you have published in it can be added to your cv.

That's amazing. I'm purely jealous. As your story between the guideline length? I looked at sending something but it's 17000 words and therefore way above their suggested 6000 word limit.
Grats again.

Many thanks to you all for the congrats.
JD. Why don't you suggest your story as a serial? I know 17,000 words isn't novel length, but If they like it, they could well publish it over three or four issues. All the time it's sitting on your hard drive, it's going nowhere. Good luck.

Congrats on your success. I'm still trying to write a short story and hoping a publisher will publish it.
Again, well done!
