Observations whilst having laryngitis

The world is quieter.
People talk back in hushed whispery voices without even realising.
The house is deathly on my own - I usually sing very loud and very proud!
My daughters actually stop talking and look at me and really listen when I try to communicate. They also seem calmer - strange.
The dog has very cleverly learnt rudimentary sign language.
Some of the children at school respond extremely well - in general the under 6's
The 7 year old's especially the boys dont like it.
The 9 year old's pity me!
When I'm in a crowd of people it feels like I'm in a foreign country - I understand whats being said all around me but I dont have enough grasp of the language to contribute. My thoughts actually formulate in Italian and words I haven't spoken in years come into my head! I realised it stems back to childhood when I used to visit relations in Italy and be part of the family but isolated at the same time through lack of vocabulary.
I feel really tired from smiling and trying to convey emotions through facial gestures.
I listen to other people much more.
It makes me think - how do we convey who we are? Obviously there's writing - but not everybody takes the time to read or understand the words - not everyone can feel emotion from a page of scribbles. Which is why I like this site so much because you lot can - or at least, we all try to understand each other.
All in all I was feeling pretty despondent this morning walking home and then some builders had the cheek to wolf whistle me! (That hasn't happened in years.)
What did I do?
Smiled.

I like this piece. Very descriptive and quite sadistic (to me) in it's own way in the first third then sortof dark in the second third. The last third feel intelligent yet relaxing--kind of like sitting and chatting with your grandfather.

Anyways--this is something a lot of us want to experience (or maybe it's jus me) and become stimulated by it.

Good Job

I'm an avid reader who gets lost in the world of books. My poetry tends to be a stream of consciousness running along the pulse of emotion. I'd like to try new things but as always its finding the time ... (Read more)
