Escaping my reality

Hi all, my name is Yvonne and I am new to the writers circle and to writing, well at least since school. I am an avid reader of fiction, and a bit eclectic in my taste, I tend to jump from SciFi to thrillers, historical of any era and then the odd mix of what catches my eye. Don't know about you but when I read a book I feel I have my own personal Cinema in my head and I am running the film version as I interpret the writing before me. This does make it near impossible for me to put a book I am into down, but the joy of escaping my reality.

Recently I began to think why not have a go myself, certainly cheaper than buying book after book, so I am attempting to give it a go. My life right now is beyond crap and I would like one aspect of it to be positive and have some hope of progressing. So I would appreciate all comments, good or bad, help me to develop something that is mine to embrace and develop. (Bit dramatic - uh?)

Also, can I add that I am loving having access to all this free reading! Unfortunately, I am probably not going to be the most helpful critic but I will give it a go.

Yve

It seems like you have a lot going on and it will be great to put them on paper. Writing is best when it come from the heart so get on with it and I'm sure you will do well.

Keep reading too!

Wow, I sure wish I could be like you, reading while having a cinema in my head. When I'm at home I can't read because, well, I've became too comfortable with the place. It's like you're relaxed and distracted simultaneously, or it's like I'm procrastinating, only to never be able to do it because there's no deadline (sucks, don't it?).

Well anyways, welcome! Based on what you written thus far you speak the truth as if it comes from your heart. Believe me, like you said, you, like me, might not be the most helpful critic, but when it comes to honesty, you're a king (or queen in case you're a girl.) You'll be successful one day. I know it.

Well again, welcome! If you need any pieces to be critique, I'll do it.

A very brief description of myself would be that I am introverted extrovert - pretentious but accurate. I am attempting writing for the first time since high school and I'm sure it shows. Anyway, starting ... (Read more)
