A little about me and why I love horror/SF/Fantasy (dark)

True Story:
On New Years night, 2004, I was in bed a little after 5 AM and I was very close to sleep when I felt someone looking at me (this happened a lot when I lived in Japan - haunted house). I looked at the darkened room and saw a dark figure and when I concentrated on the finding the face to this figure, I saw a demon's face. It was purple with red zig-zag markings. The eyes were dark and I think he was smiling at me, so I smiled back. There was no fear, which surprised me when I later analysed it. I rolled over in bed (can't sleep when I'm being watched), pulled the blankets over my ears and drifted off to sleep.

    I thought, 'Who is that?'
And a word popped into my head: Mephistopheles.

Several months later, a demon dressed in battle armour hissed in my ear. I rolled away and I felt something tapping my shoulder.
I moved house 2 days later.

I have two novels coming out this year from Black Bed Sheets Publishing, a small press in the US. I have over 40 short stories published and I review for HarperCollins and Hachette via SFFANZ (Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand), of which I am a member. I am also a member of AHWA (Australian Horror Writers Association). I have edited 4 anthologies, worked as editor and reviewer for Sinisteria horror magazine, I have translated one novel from Japanese to English and one novel for an Australian writer.

did that truly happen to you. i always believed there were ghosts. where else would the souls go after death.
you've done a lot of things in your life. whoa its like a whole list of things. i'm kind of creeped out by your encounter with the demon now. i'm shivering and i guess that's the point in writing horror. i love writing and watching horror but i hate reading horror. i just imagine the worst things in my mind whilst reading.
