Loud

The phone ringing
The baby crying
The kettle boiling
Can they hear it?
No

The clock ticking
The water running
The door knocking
Can they hear it?
No

The car horn beeping
The sirens of the ambulance wailing
Footsteps on the pavement
Can they hear it?
No

The beautiful song of birds singing in the trees
Leaves blowing in the wind
The laughter of children in the playground
Can they hear it?
No

The chimes of the ice-cream van
The car stereo blaring
The rain against the window
Can they hear it?
No

Melody I cannot hear
But the peace is too loud

Paula1973, welcome to the Writers Circle. You're right. Writing can be therapeutic for the writer... and the readers. Clearly, you wrote these poems drawing from your own experience, feelings and aspirations. After reading your poems, I can picture you clearly in my mind, your predicaments and yearnings. Thank you for opening up to us. I'd love to read more from you.
