Chapter 1- The Worlds
--------------------------
"What's happening? Where are we? Why are we-" My questions were cut off. Then it became pitch black all around me. "-falling!?" I finished.
"How should I know?!" A male scream was heard from not far below me.
Light finally shone below me. Coming at me quicker and quicker, when the light finally swallowed me up, I crashed.
---Entering South Plymouth, Massachusetts, Earth---
I looked up at my ceiling, dad should be home soon, I sighed. That can't be good..
I shot up straight, there was a loud crash outside. "What the.." I trailed off, running to my backyard, towards the crash.
"What in the world?" I was shocked at what I saw.
A boy had halted in his tracks. "C-rap.." Atleast, that's what I /think/ he muttered.
I stood my ground, it wasn't like they were armed or anything. "Who /are/ you?" I asked the boy. There was also another boy behind him, but the one in front looked younger. The boy in front blushed, he seemed uncomfortable. I just noticed he had short, pointy ears, sort of like an elfs. "I'm guessing she's a human, Z." The older boy said. 'Z' just nodded, wide-eyed. The older boy stepped forward. "My name, is Ivan, //Prince// Ivan, mind you." He sighed. "This is Z, well, Zeke is his real name." He pointed to the younger boy.
"What are you?" They weren't human, that was obvious. Both seemed reluctant to answer. I became impatient, so I started to tap my foot.
"We, are demons, from the world D'aimon." //Prince// Ivan said. He seemed nervous. "Can we finish this in your house? We dont need everyone in your world to know about us.." Ivan trailed off.
I narrowed my eyes. "How can I trust you?" I challenged.
"Well, miss, we've told you a lot already, haven't we? We /sorta/ trust you, so you can trust us." Zeke snapped, crossing his arms across his chest.
I sighed, then walked towards the back door of my house. Zeke and Ivan followed me into th kitchen.
"Oh, by the way, my name is Kaileigh, but call me Kiki." I flinched when I remembered Zeke calling me 'miss'.
I sat at my table. Zeke and Ivan copied my movements, seeming uneasy in my house. I just realized an odd marking on Zeke's stomach, and that they both had wings. Woah.
"Your //demons//?" I asked, not trul beleiving that that's what they were.
"Yes.." Zeke trailed off, seeming confused.
"But aren't demons, evil, ugly, inhuman, monstorous, etc.?" I asked. Zeke and Ivan bursted into laughter.
"Haha, no! Heck no! Inhuman, yes, and we are strong but I wouldn't say monstorous. Also, in our world you don't call someone a demon, like in this world, its just a species. In our world, Demons have black wings and markings, and short pointy ears." Zeke explained. I was memerized by his soft voice, it seemed almost hypnotic. Ivan finally stopped laughing. "We told you a little about ourselves, what about you?" Now it was my turn to laugh.
"You didn't answer he most important questions! How and why did you come here?" I asked. Ivan frowned.
"Well..we came by a portal, here to te human world, to //Earth//." Zeke began.
"And well, we came here because my brother and I are in search of mates, or as you call them, wives." Ivan finished, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
"Why are you //searching// for mates?"
"Well, because, it's asked by our da-King, because it is the only way for I to be King and Zeke a Prince." Ivan expained.
"Now your turn for questions." Zeke snapped.
So, I told them everything. That I was 14 years old, always been human, my mom divorced my dad and left me here with him, that my dad was a drunken idiot who smoked, that I go to school, and heading into the 9th grade, and that the season was summer.
"Happy?" I asked. Ivan chuckled and nodded. There was a moment of awkward silence.
"Could we stay here, in your house?" Ivan asked suddenly.
I blinked a few, a bit confused of the sudden question. I recovered myself. "Well, possibly, but.." Who knows what happened to my dad, he should have been here by now and he's not.. I grew worried. But the worry soon disappeared. I knew this day would come, that idiot either got in an accident or arrested by now. Then I nodded. "'Course you can." I said, and smiled widly. Zeke and Ivan smiled back.
Ivan then frowned. "But, wait, what about your family? They can't know about what we just told you.." Ivan trailed off.
"My mom left my dad and I, Im an only child, and my dad well, he's probably dead or in jail. His drinking got worse once mom divorced him." I explained.
"You don't care?" Ivan asked, shocked.
"No. He didn't care for me, I don't care for him. I can't beleive my mum left me with him." I sighed. Ivan didn't seem convinced and Zeke didn't seem to care. "Ivan you can have my parents bedroom and, Zeke, you can have the guest room." I pointed to where the guest room was, it was on the first floor, oppsite side of the kitchen. Then I showed Ivan my parents room on the second floor, it was on the opposite side of the hall from my room.
"Oh, by the way, you need to start calling me //Prince// Ivan." Ivan pointed out.
I laughed. "Not in the world, here, your just //Ivan//." He frowned, and I started to laugh.
There was another loud crash, an mulitple mini ones after it. I sprinted down the stairs and towards the backyard.
Two gis were collapsed on top of a boy. Zeke and Ivan were behind me. There was no doubt in my mind that they were from Zeke's world.
A short girl got up and off the boy, and looked at Zeke. "Sir Zeke!" The girl had tackled Zeke, and was now snuggling against him. I blushed and looked away. Zeke seemed uncomfotable as well.
Ivan stepped forward. "Miss Jasmine, what are you doing here?" But the girl ignored him and ran towards me.
"You'll do!" She exclaimed, and grabbed my hand and started to pull me towar the portal, I started to panic.
But someone put his arms around my waist and started to lift me up and away from Jasmine, my feet leftthe ground, but only a few feet.
"You aren't going anywhere with her." Zeke groweled at Jasmine.
"When Jasmine folded her arms across her chest, and the portal closed. Zeke put me back on the ground, and letting me go. I turned towards him, his wings were huge, and his usual green eyes were a crimson red and staring at Jasmine with complete hatred and anger.
"Hmph. Anyways. //My// name is Jasmine, but call me Jazz." Jasmine was looking at me, I nodded to show he that I understood. The boy the girls fell on was sitting on the ground staring at me. "That, is Teo, he's sort of like a body-guard." The boy looked away shyly, he used his dark blue hair to hide most of his face.
Zeke took my arm and swung me around to face him. The girl had clung to him once more.
"I thought you said you needed a mate?" I asked, flabbergasted.
"Well, then let me explain. This-" He pointed to the girl clinging to him. "is Talora, my 'bodyguard', or so Jasmine says. But they are here just to make sure we don't get into trouble or expose our true identity.
"But Zeekkeeyy, you broke the rule!" Talora said in a whiny voice.
"We crashed in her backyard, what were we supposed to do?" Zeke challenged.
"Okayy, you won't get in trouble //this// time." Talora said. She turned towards me. "//Dont// call me Talora, 'kay? Call me Tally!" She tackled me.
"Woah!" I said, while trying to regain my balance.
Zeke pulled her off of me. I sighed, "I'm guessing you all are staying at my house." Everyone nodded. I sighed once more. "Is anyone above the age of 18?" Someone had to be the 'adult' and I was afraid of who was going to answer.
"Im 20." Ivan answered, but confused with the question.
"Then you will be the adult in the house hold." Zeke sighed. I dont think he liked that idea. Jasmine would stay on the pull out couch, Talora would sleep on an air mattress in the guest room, and Teo would sleep on an air mattress in my parents room, or now, Ivan's room.
I was surprised, in one day I met five new people, and a new world. I was tired though, so I slammed my face against my pillow.
I had forgotten to ask if Jasmine was from the same world, oh well, there living here now so I can ask them whenever.
When I woke up, it was to the smell of something burning. //Oh no.// I thought, thinking the worst, jumping out of bed and racing down to the kitchen.
A boy with dark blue, spiky hair was cooking breakfest, Teo?
"Mornin', Kiki." Teo greete, without turning around. "Toast?" Teo asked, facing me with two slices of golden brown toast.
I sighed with releif. "No thanks, Teo." But then something hit me. "You called me Kiki. I never told you my name, let alone my nickname." Teo just smiled mysteriously, and walked to the table to eat his toast.
"Everything you need to know about D'aimon and Balten will be revealed in good time." He assured, but his eyes seemed distant, like he was seeing something else other than the kitchen. I sat next to him, his spiky blue hair covered his right eye, if he had black hair, he could pull off being goth.
"Balten?" I never heard of it before..Another world? I thought.
"The angel world." Teo said simply. Then his wings expanded, like on command, they were white, not black like Zeke's. "Demons have black wings and black markings, angels have the opposite, white wings and white markings. Demons have short and pointy ears, while angels have long and pointy ears." Teo explained, finishing one slice of his toast.
"You and Zeke both mentioned something about markings, what exactly /are/ they?" I asked.
"Demons and angels have markings to show what element they have, but me, and Tally, are sorcerors, we control every element. Usually, in our world, blue hair means you are a sorceror, or destined to be one. So you won't any markings on me." Teo concluded, and finishing his toast then putting his plate into the sink.
Teo still had his wings out and I started to wonder about school, and how to hide their secret, then I started to wonder how old you had to be to be a sorcerer.
"Teo, how old are you?"
"13." //Younger than me.// I thought.
"I should warn you about the demon's diet." I looked at Teo suspiciously, diet? "He drinks blood."
"Wahat? He isnt a vampire.." I shook my head in disbeleif.
"No, but demons are like vampires. Strong, fast, and they feed on blood."
I narrowed my eyes. "Differences?" Not sure I liked the idea of them staying here anymore.
Tally came in, or, I just realized she was there.
"Let a /demon/ tell you the differences." Tally said, looking at Teo suspiciously. He smiled apologetically at her. "We are fast in the /air/, not on land. We have reflections, we aren't dead, garlic, and wooden boards, have no effects on us. Just a gun to the heart can kill us, same with the angels." Teo nodded as if confirming it.
"So you guys are nearly immortal?" I asked, shocked.
"Of course. Another difference is if we inj-oof" Zeke elbowed Tally in the stomach.
"And not to mention, we aren't rock solid." Zeke added. Pulling me up with him. "Ivans ready to go.." Thats right! Ivan needs to become the new owner of the house, so he can 'look after' everyone in the house. I was about to follow him but I didnt move. Zeke looked at me, confused. "I don't know how to drive." //And I highly doubt anyone else does either.// But I didnt add that.
Zeke sighed. "This isn't Ivan's first time in the human world." Zeke confessed. "So, Ivan does, you have a car?" I nodded, Dad bought me a truck since I was only a few years away from being able to drive. But when he bought it, it was one of the rare moments when he was sober.
A few hours later, Ivan now owned the house, and could look after everyone in it, he also got a job at Wal-Mart. We wouldn't be seeing him much during the school year. Ivan had worn a jacket to hide his wings, and no one asked about his ears, luckily. Zeke has stayed in the car.
"What are you going to do about school?" I asked, meaning his wings. We were now heading to my school, to register everyone into there classes before school starts.
"You don't need to worry about that." Zeke answered, avoiding my eyes. Ivan looked at us through the mirror, he seemed nervous.
"Yeah, it is, I know your secret, and I promise to keep it protected." I argued.
Zeke looked me straight in his eyes, and I looked straight back at him. "Kiki. Dont. Worry. About. It." Zeke growled, he seemed angry, why was he so short-tempered? I wondered.
