She lived her life in movies

She lived her life in movies
reaching for the stars
on ladders no higher than a casting couch

the small ad framed her fate
"Actresses needed, big bucks, experience preferred"
a ring
a ding

the butterfly emerged
into a room occupied by moths

Botox and Maybelline perfected her face
banishing the lines of rehearse and curse
silicone plumped the curves
as lipo accentuated the silhouette

"How far do you want to go babe?" he rasped
her slip caressed the floor
a finger shooshed his lips

the scorched bulb in the bayonet
focussed her mind
her spine scrubbing the seams of the sweaty settee

a final twist
curtains drawn
the 30 second theatre over

no bows, no encore
just wet wipes
another Muppet,
another Gonzo

Mlambere, reading your poems is becoming a guilty pleasure of mine. Your "Saucy" was good, and this one is even better. The theme might be hackneyed, but your lively metaphors and simile and your punchy style have turned it into a most delicious treat!

I like this. A fictional (I hope) poem telling a story.

I really liked this a cynical twist I guess she will never make it as she lives her life in movies...does she never learn or keep hoping?
