The Pounding of Pavement

I'm out of work today.
Where do I look? Where do I start?
Gosh, the sky is so gray.

I'll start with a good polishing of my resume
It sure looks good, I'd have to say.
Hired in no time, surely I will.
Heh, this is just a vacation. I've got time to kill.

A week has gone past and my wallet is light.
Applications, resumes, and a few interviews have past.
I had better review my resume, why is this such a fight?
I can't imagine this drought of employment will last.

Okay, I'm down to a few pennies
Not a word from many
I'm flat out scared
Seems like no one cares
Unemployment is no fun
I feel like such a bum

Those damn employers seemed so eager towards me
But yet not a word, not a call, nothing I see
I'm qualified and ready to give it my all
This is horrible, horrible! How much more can I fall!?

A month has past and I'm walking the streets
The pounding, oh the pounding.I just hate this beat!
I just want to find that employer I wish to meet.

Hi Deb I like this and feel its what poetry is about a story with a beginning and end but with feeling as you have personalised it and express emotions .

It needs a little work re removing the capitals letters on each line and the full stops on every line as they are not necessary. Poems do not have to Rhyme either just say what you feel and follow the method that you are painting a short story in words ,

I read some of your other stuff and you clearly like writing, keep it up

regards
