So I've written 240 pages of my book. My goal is 300 hundred. Almost done though. And I've also been looking at publishing houses ...again. Every single time I look at one... I kinda of freak out... lol I am such punk. So are you in anyway scared of the publishing thing.

I know what you mean, it's the whole fear of rejection combined with actually letting your baby go out into the big wide world lol. And if you do get it published, will it sink or swim?
But you know what? I've been writing without publishing for 20 years, and writing on the internet in various guises for nearly 10 years, and I'm ready.

lol ... yes Gail.... those are totally my issues. Well I'm 19 years old and decided to write. Just been doing this 2 years and never had anything published.

AV, having read one chapter from your almost finished novel "No Face", I'd say you should be able to find a publisher if you focus on the romantic novels arena. I surmise they are always looking for new talents. Good luck!

My advice is to finish it first, and then edit/proof read to its death. Then, and only then, put out query letters to agents or publishers.

They won't ever be nasty to you, or cruelly dismiss your ms. You'll get a standard rejection letter along the lines of: "Thank you for sending us blah, blah, but we aren't currently taking on new authors at the moment."

But you never know, your reply might be that they love it and will offer your a six-figure deal!! How'd you know if you don't push yourself?

Deep breaths... and go for it!

oh i totally admire the fact that you are so close to your dream of being an author. i think you should totally try to get published. i mean if jacqueline wilson or j k rowling were afraid of getting rejected then they won't be were they are now. you like totally have to believe in yourself and i'm sure that one day you will be like totally a famous author. if you like totally pull yourself out of the game then how are you going to expect to win. you have to like try and hopefully we will be seeing your book on the shelves.
p.s. don't like totally forget us little people on the way to fame. lol rememeber to include us in your winning speech. lol
p.s.s. how many times have i said totally. i've got to stop doing that. my english teacher hates it.
good luck. may the words be with you. lol

I'd finish your novel and then edit and edit and edit... then research publishers that accept books like your but don't have one exactly like it. THEN I'd send it off into the world.
