I always get inspiration from watching really good movies or reading good books or poetry. Sometimes I even get inspiration from the news. I hope this helps =)

Hey gang, I got something many of you don't: almost 60 years of life adventure...hope, despair, fear, jubilation, love, friendship... plus a penchant for political folly. I'll have enough material to keep me writing for the next 10, 15 years without even having to make anything up! That said, I know the action fantasy or thriller genre is very popular (Harry Potter, Lost Symbol) and I'd love to write something entirely outside of my experience... someday.

Sorry, I wasn't being too helpful bragging about my life experience. Current news are a good source for inspiration or "triggers".

This was sent to me today. Perhaps it would help for some.

Lucky you! Just take time to catch up on the reading and give yourself a rest.
Read read and read but if you must use a pen, then take in a deep breath, get a packet of kids coloured pens and try painting by numbers. It works, I promise and you'll be amazed what unfolds in front of you.......... INSPIration!!!!!!!

Every single piece of writing I posted came when I had nothing to think about. I just sit there thinking "What are different emotions? What events do you go through to feel them?"
Try looking at my poems Punch, Embarassment, and Silence.
Read alot. That gets your creativity flowing.
Hope this helps!

I'm late to comment on this here, but I've only just joined up.
I find being a lifelong daydreamer helps a lot, even though it gets you into trouble at school. (Too many reports saying ..."Could do better if paid more attention")
Second best ploy for me (I write sci-fi in case you're wondering) is to think about all the little "What if's" of life, such as "What if the dinosours were never wiped out by a meteor?" and so on - alternative realities, but it doesn't have to be too spaced out like that. A good what if that often gets me pondering for hours is "What if I was that person in the newspaper article - how would I feel, and what would I do next?" or "How did it all come to that?".
Anyway, I've rambled on for far too long - Your submissions are developing well I see.

Writer's block is certainly tough to work through.
Sometimes all you need to do is pick up a pen, and write just whatever random lines run through your mind at the time, and put together what you like of them. You never know, one of those lines may just be the inspiration needed to make you the world's next Shakespeare.
I'm not sure if that helps much, but it's what I do when I really can't come up with anything.

Just another thought...
Inspiration for the Gaurdian stone - Lana book was when I looked at something I'd already written (book 3 in the series of five) and worked my way backwards in time to see if I could give it a tangible link with the real world (ish - as much "ish" as possible for sci fi).
Looking back at your own work that way can sometimes help.
