Today (Oct. 3) is Aug. 15 of the Chinese Lunar Calendar: the Mid-Autumn Festival. People (I mean Chinese, ha!) will gather with their friends, admiring the moon and savoring moon-cakes. While I can't do that with my Circle of Friends, I can certaibly share this poem I've just written, and may I wish you all a happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

Her bright smile lights up
the starry sky
shroud of clouds unveils
full perfect brilliance
of the beautiful she.

Soft, dimpled plumpness
and willowy crescent
ebbs and wanes like
the button of a belly dancer
of the playful she.

In the quiet of the sleepless night
she whispers in our hearts
blissful delight and
sad melancholy
of the soulful she.

In the world of the occult
she rules absolute
witches, vampires
lunatics and werewolves
of the mythical she.

I love moon-cakes. Happy mid-Autumn Festival, Bob. Which means old man winter will be coming 'round the mountains. But I still love moon-cakes. Great poem!

This is lovely, each part telling a different story, to make up the whole picture. I love the third verse

Yes, Margaret, she has many phases. I was tempted to change the title to The Mercurial Maiden! By the way, if you want to add some verses to my poem, please feel free to suggest. This is an open invitation to all my Cirlce of Friends.

Bob, for 15 years I have been sharing the festival in Xiamen, where we play a special game of dice which the locals call bo bing. The ring of the six dice skidding around the China bowl they are thrown into and the mystical tone of your poem brings some great imagery to my mind. These days, poetry is not my strong point (although I have posted some on this site) but I might just pick up the pen and add some of the Xiamen magic to it.

Scott, I've been to Xiamen once. I was on a cruise from HK and we stopped and spent a day at Xiamen. It's a such a wonderful city. Please write something about Xiamen. I'm sure the readers would love it.
