To remember and be remembered is the key
young and old we will send away
fighting soldiers to the end of day
for those who fought and died today
and for those who gave their lives away
grieving family's with their sorrow
for them there'll be no tomorrow
precious memories they hold so dear
faces like the photographs so clear
torn apart by war and fear
a simple cross marks a soldiers grave
a resting place of one so brave
never forget our hero's who died
so wear a poppy with pride.

Very nice Debbie. The poem has a lot of emotion to it. Great for Veterans Day.

Great poem, Debbie, and very timely too. May I be so bold as to suggest a slightly different ending...?
So remember why these heroes died
and wear our poppy with pride!

Thankyou Mature Gent for your heartfelt comments, it was something that just had to be writen, may i say sincere thoughts are with you and your wife at this stressful time, and wish her a speedy recovery and live life to the full because life is too short to say 'maybe tommorow'! God bless.

Hey!
This is an amazing poem.
All of your poems show that if you work hard enough at something, you can achieve anything and overcome your obstacles!
Keep writing!

Wonderful job, Debbie.
You couldn't have said it better.
You chose the perfect words and they came together like a puzzle.
Happy Writing
