A boy trying to live up to his parent's expectations tries to get into the best Magic School in the land. When he is rejected, he begs the Headmistress, saying that he will do anything to get in and prove to his parents that he can do something great with his life. But when he gets sent off the try and find the weakness of the Witch of Ways, he finds that it is much more than he bargained for. While trying to find the secret of the Witch and hiding who he really is from her devious, sarcastic black cat, the boy learns everything from how to turn lead into gold to cure mipsy pox. He even learns the secret behind the Witch of Ways herself. But when the Headmistress herself discovers the Witch of Ways' weakness, whose side will the boy be on?
