Haitian Souls

HAITIAN SOULS

From the fallen rubble
came miraculous rescues
amidst agonizing deaths of many.

No shoddy constructions
faulty foundations
terrorists or anyone to blame.

Simply a natural disaster
of horrific proportions
and harrowing scenes:

Tearful eyes searching for loved ones
among piles of lifeless limbs
fearing what they might find.

Tombstones of jagged concrete
marked the sites of countless more
buried underneath.

No lessons touted
or judgments passed
or politics raised, please...

But to open our hearts
and pray for mercy
on these Haitian Souls!

BobChoi,

I'm not sure which is more horrific ....
.... the thousands that were arrayed in a macabre tangle of lifeless limbs or the Haitian families' struggle to find their dead.

Your poem catches the essence of intense, painful feeling of repugnance and fear.

All I can say, is this is a great poem about this event. There isn't alot I can say about this tragedy right now...I'm not sure why, but I can't really describe how I feel about the poem.

You did a very good job on this one!
