Hello cobber here. My aim with my article writing at the moment is to produce a monthly article on music(any subjects) I am a teacher, drummer, and had extensive experience in the music industry.
This idea is inspired by Roy Burns(RIP) a columnist for modern drummer......and as a kid I learnt SO MUCH,I would like too replicate this online. I have researched.......and have the delivery method in place.
But how do/and who do I pitch my articles too(sure it,s a broad field) But there must be niche markets I can target,I don't seem to be able to find any. Also getting into a mag as a columnist is NOT easy. Can anyone here offer any advice it would be greatly accepted. Cobber. ( I even have many articles ready to go

Cobham,

>>> getting into a mag as a columnist is NOT easy

It's always the case of a newbie trying to break into the big leagues. Have you thought of "blogging"? Many successful bloggers got their break through it. Some even graduated to commentating on major tv and cable stations. If and when your blog becomes popular, you could always pursue the magazines you have on your crosshairs .... others make money on their blogs by "placing" ads on their blogs too and plenty of advertisers seek them to target a particular group of 'listeners'.

Hope it helps.

becoming an article writer is something that takes time to develop. It's not easy, and being paid to do it is even rarer.
It may be an idea to submit your articles in the form of long letters to the comment/chat boxes of music sites to gauge the reaction. When enough people see and recognise your work, you may be asked to submit articles (Normally unpaid) for inclusion on sites. The next step is becoming noticed enough for people to pay you to do it. There are no quick answers, lots of rejection and lots of hard work involved. But what have you got to lose, only time and sanity. Please feel free to submit an article to this site before you send it to music sites. We might tear it to bits, and it might be rubbish, but we are all nice polite people, We won't laugh (Unless its comedy) and will try to advise you on how to re-write/re-set it before you send it off for the world to see. On the other hand it may be brilliant at the first attempt. I've been writing stuff for years, most of which is rubbish, but it improves slowly as I listen to the advise of others.
Hope this helps
