Gatekeeper, I'd like to comment on the message of this poem instead of the writing part if you don't mind. I like your central theme: "Happiness is all around us in everything we do, everything we see, all we need to do is to accept it." but your later description of "a race that never ends" or "the endless chase" would seem to run opposite. Maybe I'm reading too much into it?

Well my point was that yes, there is happiness all around us in everything we do, but we can't just sit around and expect it to come to us out of the blue. =) thank you for your comment! ~ Gate Keeper

Don't forget, Gate Keeper, 'Happiness is a Warm Gun', as John Lennon succinctly puts it (and accredited to Lennon/McCartney in the White Album) . . . or 'Happiness is a Warm Puppy' by 'Peanuts' author Schultz . . . or happiness could even be just strolling along Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge with its wildlife habitat protected from human destruction.
Though it's true that happiness abounds all around us, there are those who'd terrorize and shatter it to bits and for some twisted sinister logic, for them, that would be their happiness(?)
