Here are some of my writing tips:
FICTIONAL WRITING
-Think about experiences you have had, and add a twist to them.
-Come up with a neat, made up setting and some characters! Use your imagination to make it into a story
-When you have dream, write it down and add or change some things to extend it into a wacky story
-Come up with an amazing line and come up with a story that would go with it
-Write a story that is inspired by a book you have read
(Part 7 of the Magical Shoes was inspired by Harry Potter.)
Add a twist to characters or things that happen in the books. You could also use TV shows or movies for your inspiration. Make sure that you add some creativity!
POETRY
-Think about different emotions, and write about how you feel with each of them; use lots of metaphors and similies to keep readers interested
-Describe a place/object that you like
(ex., "My Loyal Companion", a poem about my dog that I wrote or "The Candy Shop")
Haikus-
I like writing Haikus about events that happen.
Try writing a Haiku about one of your favourite things to see or do or places to be. Or, you could just come up with something totally random!

"HELP! I'm not motivated!"
-Think of what your story would be like when turned into a movie
-Go in an empty room with just your paper and pen.
The room doesn't have to be completely empty, but don't let yourself get distracted! (Lock on the door is optional)
-Give yourself something to look forward to after you finish your book

If none of this helps you, just remember that alot of my ideas come to me when I am bored. If you just sit in a quiet room thinking, you will come up with something. Don't be hard on yourself- keep your mind wide open, and an idea will come to you any day..pinkie swear :)

Post a response to my post! If there is another type of writing that you have tips on, I'd love to hear from you. Or, you could tell us any tips you have that I didn't mention. Another idea would be telling me how these ideas helped you.

Keep writing!

These are good ideas! Thanks!
Sometimes the most helpful advice comes from people who actually are learning to write well, as opposed
to advice from people who are published authors.

(you have inspired me to lock myself up in my bedroom until I finish the Hotel Hoppers! I will do it
soon!)

Love the idea about dreams - trouble is my dreams are forgotten after I've woken:

Now! what I like doing is, hearing a song and making a story for it. Example: The oldie, "We shared
my umbrella" Great little romance Short Story. Another one: "I love Jennifer Eccles,
"converted to I Love Dimity Fenchurch.

Runyard Kipling's Six Serving Men - you know, Who, What, Why, Where... servers as a good basis for a tale.

Take the old kindergarten sentence: The Cat Sat On The Mat and a murder story.

What Cat? Was it the house owner's, a stray cat? What color was it?
Why was it on the mat. Was the mat in the sitting room, bedroom, drawing room?
When was it there? At the time of the murder, was it a witness?
How did it get there? Was the door open, did it just stray in?...and so on... let the little grey cells
work overtime.

Just thought i'd add my AUD$0.10 worth.
