Longing

A man traces the outline of her face.
His only photograph.
Longing.

A woman dreams about her son.
He died before he was born.
Longing.

A child hugs her knees.
Her best friend has moved away.
Longing.

An elderly man calls out to his wife.
He can't remember that she passed away 12 years ago.
Longing.

A little boy stares out his hospital window.
He will never be able to run, to play.
Longing.

A homeless family stares in the window of a shop.
Another family is buying a large-screen television.
Longing.
