WAITING ROOM SILENCE
Sitting in the waiting room can be quite solicitous,
Silence dominates; a sniff or cough breaks the uncommunicativeness,
Folk sitting with a vacant gaze a lonely place of solitude,
Some with heads bowed towards feet; silently counting minutes by degrees.
In steps another looking for a place to sit,
Heads turn, eyes glare, taking stock of a newcomer,
Silence returns, not a word spoken.
Monotony dwells reading notices one cannot understand,
Magazines entice one sees a striking booklet
POEMS IN THE WAITING ROOM
Suddenly a new world opens out, words of poetic grace
Timeless, in a time consumed wait
