Those memories that garnish our thoughts in mindsnight
Shant be served without due warn
And do so with haste for these fleeting delights
Feed the mind from the instant we're born.
That most perfect of foods, at once
All thoughts smother,
Shall meet not your countenance
But the gut of another.
This perfection sustained
At the tip of your fingers
Shall for each inch gained
Withdraw an inch and linger.
Aside dreams and memories
Thrice the same span
And the trait of such reveries:
Unobtainable by man.
The gilding of memory
By sweet reminisce,
Bears the marks, unnecessary
Of lily's smithy and remiss.
Recollection now smothered: clinquant
Leaves reality threadbare and skant
All the present is dimmed by the pasts scorching light
And one's thoughts flit like moths, to the shine of foresight.
