toast in mouth
butter streaming on yesterday's shirt.
Billy's Le Mans start,
prompted by squealing brakes of distant 32
triggered him towards the event horizon.
Springing over vacant dog,
startled cat, stumbling then
tumbling towards
satchel scratching, holly hedge
the Postman bagatelles Billy
through the open gate.
Relief wiping brow
then shirt tucking tidy
as he spied Betty on the back seat.
she was stunning
as was the blow from the Toyota Prius
as it accelerated away.
The paramedic sighed
at the tragedy
the filthiest pants he had seen in years
his family has been informed.
