Insomnia

The insulting glare
from the single streetlight
filters in through the blinds
creating milk-white stripes
on the bare walls.

Watching each star fade
into the daylight,
waiting, waiting.
I don't have the patience for this.

The bed remains empty.
I haven't slept in days.
Those dreams,
haunt my sheets.

In the end, I am a coward.

GenieRaine,

Incidentally, I also wrote a poem about insomnia, we have different content but same emotions =) can't sleep =)

Dreams can't be controlled unlike reality. Is the fear from experience ("haunt my sheets") or just imaginary? You can only face your dreams in reality. How can you face reality if you can't face your dreams? I understand the fear. Along the lines by FDR of the US, your fear is fear of something -- fear itself. That's the reality.
Just trying to understand the poem, GenieRaine.
I like the poem.

Don't be a coward, fly with me to Tasmania in April, and you'll never suffer from insomnia ever again. Drop me a line so we can meet up and finally see each other. Good work!
