Easter Bunny vs. Santa Claus

After I read Churchmouse' strange tale on Easter Bunny, I can't help but feeling that this furly friend has really gotten the short-end of the stick. So I invited him to present his case and say a few words to the children of the Circle...

Easter Bunny vs. Santa Claus

Hey, children:
Who's the festive attraction
deserving more of your attention?
Santa who brings you presents in sleighs
or I who have to hide eggs all over the place?

You should know:
Santa marks Christ's birthday,
but ah ha, everyone has a birthday!
I celebrate Christ's resurrection
in itself a truly unique distinction!

You asked:
Who laid those Easter eggs?
Not sure, must be a duck or chick.
How come they are made of chocolate?
You silly, they were laid by a chocolate duck or chick!

Now, consider who works harder:
Santa gets help from his army of elves
but I... have to do everything by myself!
Santa goes HO! HO! HO! Jolly good fellow!
while I go hop, hop, hop with my butt in toll!

Let me appeal to your sense of fairness:
In keeping up the good Christian tradition,
who deserves the most honorable mention?
Indulgent Santa sitting on his big fanny
or this diligent little Easter Bunny?

The Easter Bunny is stuck
since Easter always falls on a Sunday
It's not an extra day off . . .
Sorry, bobchoi :=)

Always sure to be entertained by you. This is fun to read. Love Bunny, Santa needs to go on a threadmill! He seems to eat all of Bunny's chocolates.

Well written. Great idea, well thought. Flows beautifully.

Excellent match of characters, bobchoi. Santa gave me kimmi doll last year, unfortunately Easter Bunny sent Tooth Fairy to replace my two front teeth. As a sign of my gratitude, I'm sending Willy Wonka's army of Oompa Loompas to make egg laying ducks and chicks and help Easter Bunny.... I like your poem and your sense of humor.

Bobchoi, I want you on my side. You've got some pretty nifty arguments here. I wonder if you can handle divorce cases.

Agree with IamVici
I see a winning team with you
You've presented the case logically - That takes care of the rationale
You've presented it in poetry - That takes care of the visceral
You've got it all covered
And we humans decide viscerally first
then justify it logically (or intellectually) later
I recant my previous view
All we have to do is extend the holiday and take off Monday
At least giving the Easter Bunny on par with Santy
Another step towards equality

Hooray, for bobchoi!

As Easter Bunny's agent, I would just like to say that my client welcomes the comments of all the children of the circle, and hopes that justice will be done vis-a-vis the unequal share of work and platitudes between himself and Santa Claus. He would also like to thank Bobchoi for bringing the matter to the publics attention.
Unfortunately due to his forthcoming egg hiding duties, he is not able to make a statement himself, but wishes it to be known that he is very grateful of all the effort put in on his behalf.

I so enjoyed reading this very delightfully inked write and both cases were put very admirably, so much so, I find it v-e-r-y difficult to decide whom to favour - Santa or Bunny - Hmmmm!!!!! Really tough decision to make. I love the charming sense of humour this poem is penned in, the writer has had great fun with a super play on words, so nicely expressed. The poem flows very smoothly and is soooo nice to read, very light and uplifting. I have enjoyed reading very much! Thank you for sharing. Blessings always.........
