When Will The Suffering Ever End?

I SEE HER fragile body lying still

sleeping yet not sleeping

moaning and moaning and moaning in pain

morphine more morphine more morphine

moaning more moaning more moaning in pain

i look up to heaven and wonder

when will the suffering ever end . . .

Poignant poem, possum
I see the contrast of a body that's still, and
the non-stop pain and suffering
I feel it
Hope all's well with you
and all turns out well for her

one day, soon, maybe
Victory will sluice this pain
Peace, peace at last

This is another super piece from you.

Great work, Possum. So touching and honest. This is like a sequel to my work, "How do I Say Goodbye When I Could Hardly Say Goodnight".

Thanks, mnmnI. It hurts to see her this way. I feel her pain and yet, there's nothing I can do. I can only hope a miracle.

Thanks for your comments, ChrissieJo. I would like to see her overcome her battle and be a victor in the end.

Thanks, libran88. I wrote this poem on the 1st of March after spending some time with her but decided to post it only on the 9th. Yes, there's similarity on our poems. I think we both feel same sort of pain. Again, thank you.

Hi Possum,

There is a tagalog word for suffering. It's called *dukha*. It came from the Indian Pali (middle Indo-Aryan language of India used by Buddhists) and the Indian Sanskrit, *Dukkha* and was derived from Duskha (meaning uneasy). The Buddhists refer to the word as *pessimism*. Translated into *ku* in Japanese and *ko* in Korean, it referred to the same thing, bitterness, suffering, hardship and pain.

The Sanskrit meaning of Dukkha is misery, pain and unhappiness often compared to a large potter's wheel that would screech as it did not turn smoothly (and its entymology dictated it referred to having a 'bad axle hole).

Like our journey into existence, if life does not turn smoothly, we could have a 'bad axle hole' or worse, a 'bad hair day' and it too is called suffering, bitterness, pain, unhappiness or pessimism. Life among other things is such that it is a constant struggle to suffer. This is where the saying "life is like a wheel" came from . . . like a potter's wheel . . . sometimes, it turns smoothly, other times, it screeches in pain.

Jesus Christ's hands are often compared to the Potter's Hands simply because He took away our sins and suffered the pain on the cross to make our lives run smoother.

To answer your query, pain and suffering will end only when we let the Potter's Hands guide us until the screeching wheel stops.

Possum,
While we are here in this world we have this suffering, stages of life here are moving up, down and even upsidedown like roller coaster ride and yes you are right, miracle can happen, and I believe In miracle. She will be ok.

It's not easy, Grampa, to see somebody you care for in too much pain. I could only wish for somebody up there to hold her in the palm of His hand.

Haunting and melodic - cuts right down to the bone.
