Pigs

Those pigs in heaven
don't have a clue.

Fairytales and Shakespeare have nothing on this.
It has to be lived to be understood,
to be felt to be understood.

Those pigs in suits
don't have a clue.

It's the way he presses his thumbs against his eyes
when he takes off his glasses,
as if he can no longer see clearly.

Those pigs smirking behind their cups of tea
don't have a clue.

He has no dreams, no past, no future.
He asks for nothing, wishes for nothing.
He exists because he loves.

Those pigs with their sparkling rings
don't have a clue.

It's the way she doesn't say a word
and he knows exactly what's she thinking
and how to make everything ok.

Those pigs with their "advice"
don't have a clue.

She has dreams, a past, a future
filled with him.
She asks for him, wishes for him.
She exists because he loves her.

These two angels on Earth,
they know.

GenieRaine,

Each time I open one of your pieces, I can't help but wonder where you're gonna take the reader. All your pieces are quite enjoyable.

I stared at the title and it reminded me of an incident long ago (while in HS) when I (deservedly so) was called a *pig* by a great-looking skirt from a nearby all-girl school, Holy Ghost College (now College of the Holy Spirit). My buddies and I at San Sebastian were wasting time outside the gates watching the girls go by when suddenly, without provocation, my lips started to pucker up and wolf-whistled.
"Pig," she yelled.
Somehow, pride kicked in and I pretended not to hear the insult. So I asked the fellow next to me.
"What did she say?"
"She said, you're a Pretty Intelligent Guy, a PIG!"

Enough of that, back to your poem, it's great. I don't have much knowledge about poetry but you do write well!

I guess I'm still a pig 'cause I just don't have a clue what it was about. I'll take a stab here, it is about Love, right? :-)

"Pigs" refers to people who have everything, and yet still want more, but never find what the couple in this poem have.
