The Magical Shoes Part 8

"Thanks for knocking." said a sarcastic voice.

"Sorry, this is actually my room. Dumblydore let me in." I tried to say politely.

"Oh, great so I'll be living with you for a year." Suddenly I didn't think that living in a room here sounded alright.

"Yes, I guess so." I was losing my patience.

"Hmm. Nice shoes." Madison smirked as she eyed my white, muddy sneakers. There was a hole on the toe of one of them and the laces were ratty.

"Thanks!" I replied with a painful smile.

Madison laughed a high pitched laugh.

It was silent for a couple of seconds, but it seemed like minutes.

"So, um... Maddy."

"Never EVER call me Maddy." she snapped. "Only my friends call me that."

"My mistake."

Madison rolled her eyes.

"So, Madison. Do you have any siblings?" I said in attempt to make conversation.

She gave me an odd look. I guess she knew she was being rude, and was wondering why I was acting so polite after what she had said.

"Well, I have a 3 year old sister and a 16 year old brother. My brother goes to school here." After she answered, she kept on unpacking her bags.

"Oh no! I didn't pack anything." I told her in a panicked voice.

"Neither did I. Take a chill pill. Dumblydore will take care of it." For the second time, Madison rolled her eyes, but this time, she snorted aswell.

HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? I wanted to scream at her. But instead I replied with a rather stupid sounding "Oh."

Just when I was about to ask Madison another question, I felt strange pressure on my body. I could feel it twisting. I wanted to yell, but nothing would come out.

"Hello Melanie." A familiar voice greeted me.

I was suddenly standing in a village with Dumblydore.

"So, I used a spell to put together a suit case full of your items you'll need when you are here for this first week. We are going to have to buy you some books and such. When you are enrolled at Frogwarts, you receive 100 in Frog dollars. I'll give you this list of supplies you will need and you can shop around!"

I nodded. As Dumblydore vanished, I started reading the list.
This is what it said:

-Potions for Witches and Wizards Book 1 (By Delia Drune)
-Spoken Spells for Witches and Wizards (Inanimate) Book 1 (By Charles Higginbottom)
-Motion Spells for Witches and Wizards (Inanimate) Book 1) By Delia Drune
-Frogwarts Cloak and uniform
-Wand
-Baby Dragon

At that point of the list, I stopped reading. A dragon? Why did I need to buy a dragon? I kept reading:

(for mail delivery)

A dragon that delivers mail? Where do I keep it? I decided to talk to Dumblydore about that later on.

-pencils
-notebook
-caldron

Then the list ended. Alright, I thought. This won't be too hard. I chose to buy my books first. I went into a store called "Bailey's Books"

"Hi there! Welcome!" A lady welcomed me. She was wearing her dark hair in a messy bun. Her clothes looked rather sloppy. She had tiny silver glasses on a chain around her neck. "Are there any certain books you are looking for?"

"Yes." I answered, and I showed her the list. She put her glasses on the tip of her nose and read the books I had to get from the piece of paper.

"Ah. It's your first year at Frogwarts, is it?" she asked me.

"Yeah, it is."

"You'll love it here my darlin'." She told me. "I know just where those books are." She lead me down a row of bookshelves and showed me the books.

"Here you are!" she said happily as she dropped the books onto the floor. Luckily, I didn't laugh.

"Oh dear!" she exclaimed as she dove to the floor. Her glasses flung off of her face. She sprang back onto her feet and once again put the glasses on her nose.

"This chain comes in handy." She winked. "Right, let's go ring these books in!"

I guessed that this lady was Bailey. I could tell that she was a bit klutzy. That is something I had in common with her. She seemed quite nice.

She handed me a paper bag with my books in them.

"Thank you!" I said, and walked out the door.

It was time to shop for a dragon.
