Lions and Lambs

Your face contorted in agony.
I was never the one to lie
but I didn't tell the truth either.

How was I to know that you're confession was serious,
and how was I to know that you thought I was serious.

And the lamb was in fact a lion.

I cut you down like a Christmas tree
and dressed you up.
At the end of the day,
I had forgotten about you.

Don't give me that look.
It slipped my mind.
Oh please, I can't think of you every second.

I'm sorry, but you're scaring me.
What is with all the planning?
Don't get mad at me.
I never agreed to any of this.

I'm sorry that I always cancel on you,
and I'm always late,
but there are more important things.
Yes, more important things.

Of course I "love" you.
