tired variations on worn-out concepts

why is it that over-used sentiments are prized while free thought is disregarded? why is it that forceful rhyme schemes are hailed as the work of a genius? why is it that dull and meagre writings reflecting upon a loved-one's death are graded so high?

it is because we, as humans, as animals, are slaves to rules and norms. we try to become self and other, and end up pitiful re-hashes of everyone else.

let's try to break out of that a little; become more like our individual selves.

Indeed, art should want no rules - well, there are some exceptions. I cannot yet come to grips with beginning a sentence without a capital letter, or end without a period. These are just two standard conventions. However, when it comes to creative elements - we should go where we're led.
I am reminded of my school days and especially composition, where we were given a topic to write on and then slammed down by the teacher for being too creative - being told for example. "There are no such things as....; and then, next period, being read Peter Pan.

I don't mind the odd little cliche in my stories. I love to sprinkle an, or is it, a, hyperbole or three.

Yes! basic grammar conventions please. Stilt your creativity - no.
