The Writers' Circle

In this house we have serious fish issues. To go or not to go? To eat or not to eat? Are we all going or just the "guys"? Is it a good fishing day or not? Let's not forget about our resident pet fish, a blue beta named Gizmo, do we feed him or forget to? He matches the colors of his rock bottom bowl so closely we have been known to forget about him on occasion. Sorry Gizmo! We turn these "fish" discussions into all day debates that go something like this:
	"You going fishing today?"
	"Thinking about it-why?"
	"Just asking.looks like good weather for it."
	"I don't know-it might get to hot today for fishing."
	"So, go later in the day."
	"Might, around sundown. Can I borrow your lantern?"
	"I don't care, but it needs propane."
	"Well then can I take the light?"
	"Sure, it's got good batteries."
	"You going go to?"
	"Might, depends on if I can borrow a pole?"
	"Sure, I got a couple you can use."
	"Well, then, I think I'll go."
	"Alright, let me call Jon, Bill and Bob-see if they want to go."
	"Reckon they will?"
	"Yeah, so we're gonna need the ice chest."
	"Alrighty then, you call 'em and I'll find the ice chest."
	"Reckon we should take something to eat?"
	"Probably ought to."
	"Can we stop at the store for ice?"
	"Yeah, do we need it?"
	"Yeah, we do."
We scurry around calling people, grabbing poles and fish bait buckets, chairs and lights, the ice chest and a sleeping bag.just in case. The kids spot us. We've been caught! Now choruses of "Can I go to?" reverberate through the house. Now we gotta find extra poles, toys, flip-flops and fishing clothes. We're gonna need more snacks and a sitter for the baby. Now someone's gotta stay home with the baby if we're going go fishing. I quickly volunteer. Why? I'm ready for the peace and quiet in a house where everyone else has gone.fishing!
