Wow! Haven't you been busy. I've only just got the typos de-bugged from my little book of rubbish.
Very best of luck Grampa, and good hunting.

Hello Churchmouse,
It's been a while (my apologies to you and all) and I wish there's more than 24 hours in a day.
>>> I've only just got the typos de-bugged from my little book of rubbish . . .
'rubbish' would be the last thing in my mind to describe your writing, Churchmouse; more like 'brilliant'. You have a series of short stories that would appeal to almost everyone.
It's my desire to learn the art of publishing. It's not too difficult and with the advent of the 'internet' , it's a whole new playing field out there. My websites are still getting facelifts and along with that, I have to work on the books. I'm thinking of writing a self-help book (and ebook too) on 'how to setup your own micro-publishing company under $500'.
(assuming you already have a computer and a manuscript :-).
As a retired system engineer, programming in 'php' came in handy and learning new publishing software called 'InDesign' by Adobe and redesigning my first book (new cover and textblock) proved worthwhile. I was able to knock it down to 400 pages from 616 just by eliminating unnecessary white spaces and doublespaces (it was the old publisher's way of making extra money). As a result, the price went down by more than 50% ($14.95) and I was able to put out a better product with a new ISBN number (it's mine :-)
My second book is coming out in January (I could rush it by December, but haste makes headaches).
I eliminated all middlemen and cut the cost to a bare minimum (and I signed up with the world's biggest printer of books - they print for the big boys too and they take care of pushing your book to amazon, in the UK and elsewhere with printing facilities in Australia, UK & US, etc.,).
I could help you and other 'writers circle' friends with tips to put out your books without taking a mortgage . . . or I could print them for you if you wish. Just let me know (and I will be your publisher :-). Did you know that in Canada, ISBNs are supplied by the government for free provided you're a Canadian-based business? And publish your ebook for free (not by me, but I could do this too :-). All these and free software, tips and tricks will be available in my self-help book.
Anyway, good luck to you and the rest of the writers here. Email me personally if you wish to publish your collection of short stories. I'm sure there's a market for you out there.
Also, you and the rest of our WC family are invited to read the first ten chapters of my book online at chargingram.com (link to read-a-book and follow instructions. Username and password is provided). You might need 'shockwave' or 'flash' if you don't have it yet. That too is free to download.
