My Sister

He claimed it was an accident
As they struggled for the gun
Her boyfriend took her life away
She was almost twenty one

1981, the year
The eleventh day of June
A tragedy within my life
That left it filled with gloom

It's about my baby sister
The day she passed away
And left a sweet young daughter-
Who turned two within two days

Her bags were packed and ready
Just sitting on the floor
She was headed home to mama
Cause she couldn't take no more

Twelve days before she's twenty one
Two years she felt alone
Trying hard to get ahead
And make it on her own

She wanted something better
For the daughter in her life
That's why she never married
Didn't want to be his wife

An Accident, he say's
I'll let you, just be the judge
As you listen to the things I say
Ah yes, I hold a grudge

But I'll let all, that read decide
Then you can make a choice
An Accident, or Murder
Listen to your inner voice

So this is how the story goes
Of course, it's just one side
The other half , my sister knows
But then, she's not alive

He says that they both argued
Then she went and got his gun
He kept it in the closet
Then the nightmare just begun

As they fought, he fell on top of her
They landed on the bed
The gun went off, beneath her chin
And blew off half her head

Her boyfriend, Yes, they did arrest
They put his ass in jail
But after only seven days
They let him go, no bail

It seems this was election year
This case was Black and White
Not knowing if the state could win
The DA, didn't fight

So ask yourself these questions
A man of twice her size
A gun, in which she never liked
Her baby, by her side

Bags are packed, she's leaving
Returning home to live
Why would she throw her life away
With what she had to give

The cops, they called it Murder
Her boyfriend disagreed
As he shot my sister on the bed
And left her there to bleed

My niece is now a lady
And her father she did see
But when she ask about this night
What he told her bothered me

He said to his own daughter
It's a thing I can't discuss
Unless my lawyers present
So tell me, what's the fuss

Ok, now there you have it
So you decide her fate
Accident or Murder
That happened on this date
