Weeks went past. I didn’t count days. After time they started to move in more people into my room. There was a boy with red hair like mine and green eyes like me but his were bright where as mine are dark. He’d had his gallade taken. He could read peoples minds and tell what their actions would be. There was another girl too. She had lost her Pikachu. She could control electricity. She made the light flicker when she was mad and could send a blot of almost lightning at people to hurt them. We were the experiments that had failed. We later learned we were meant to change into our Pokémon. They had taken their life spirit out from their blood, made them weak, and put their power into us, and we were meant to be able to use it to change. Then our pokemon had been destroyed.
But there was something wrong with us 3 and it hadn’t worked.
I remember hearing this and smiling, we were different. We had a power that no-one but us could control, we were going to use that. We were going to get out
I remember waking up that morning and felling angry. I could feel the shadows better when I saw angry or happy. I looked at the others and nodded. We hadn’t spoke but we had this planned, the boy, phantom we called him after that had shown the other my plan with his mind. We all knew what we would do. I padded over to the door and scratched at it and a voice slid under it, “what is it, what do you want?” it hissed and nix gave a dark smile. I gave a yelp of fake pain and then rammed the door and there came a curse from behind it and we heard locks moving, the door opened slowly and then it was phantoms turn, she ran at the man who walked in and then held his arms behind his back as I turned to him. His eyes were wild with fear as I stood up for the first time since I’d run away from home all that time ago, “we leave” I said in a scratchy voice that hadn’t been used in so many days. He gave a weak nod and then the others laughed as I dropped down to all fours once again and tilted my head to a side, phantom walked over to the door and then slid through it first and then the girl, who would come to be Sparky after time, slid out after him, I went last and looked once back at the other man, “you had my sister killed, I will stop you” I told him in my broken voice and his face paled and then I turned and left. The three of us walked up the empty corridor, phantom lead us as he could tell us where the other guards were. We soon found the other rooms, they were single cell guarded by a group of three men, some cages had other kid in them and other Pokémon. I remember growling in pain and phantom reaching down to me to try and stop me, but I remember it failing.
I remember running at the men and seeing them reach for guns. I remember slicing my head through the air. I remember blood. I remember screams of pain. I remember it stopping. I remember walking to the first cage and slicing through it. I remember a girl of only 10 reached up to me, I pulled her up and she looked at me, “you have red eyes, and your tattoo glows” she said quietly as she looked down my bare arm. I remember nodding to her and waving to the other cages. She nodded to me and then ran down the other door to free the rest.
I remember turning away and hearing the alarm. I remember phantom calling out and me running towards his voice. I remember a white door. Then I remember seeing the sun. We ran across the ground, just us three when the guards came after us. I remember panicking; we would never have been able to beat them all. Then I remember seeing a wave of Pokémon, all types and shapes and sizes, running towards the guards. They collided and there were shouts of pain from both sides. Some broke through and ran to us and I remember a little flareon burning through the metal fencing. I remember everyone breaking out into the trees around the lab and everyone ran, Pokémon and children running in all directions. We were free. Sparky and phantom stayed beside me as we ran and then we heard the calls of the guards, then phantom reached down to us both and closed his eyes. There was a load fizz and then ground was gone from below us and a shot of pain seared through my side and then we hit the ground hard. I smelt grass. I heard water. I could feel wind in my hair. I sat up and saw my little pond, my cave. I saw my home. And then I remember dropping to my knees and sobbing. Crying for my little sister, who could never come home like I had
