Prisoner of my Mind

Drugs
Drugs
Imprisoned; trapped inside my head
breathing, thinking, yet seeming dead...
'Just keep on going' - yes, Doctor, but WHY?
Why live, when all I do is cry?

I strive to satisfy my soul;
attempt to fill that empty hole
Smiles and laughter pass me by;
Emotions I only feel when high

I long to see and know that light;
instead I'm cursed - the dark of the night
dragging me to its deathly lair;
consuming me with sadness and despair

I sit, thoughts swirling, in this chair -
'I'm not real... I'm not really here...'
And I know that I will never be free
from this strange being who is 'Me'

In this sad world no thing is sure
but one - I will never find the 'cure'
So onward I must go, and pray
that I will live to see a better day

The only good thing about a bad day, I guess, is that the next day is usually better.

I like your poem! I would change the title to 'Prisoner of my Head'. It sounds, somehow, more to the point. I don't think the first line is right. I don't think you're confused at all (quite the opposite).

You could also make the poem a bit pithier. I don't use rhyme personally but as an idea (not saying this is any good :P)

Imprisoned, trapped inside my head,
living, thinking, seeming dead,
staying alive, I don't know why,
walking in crowds, as empty as sky.

I agree totally with Carl. I've read your three poem's and you sound far from lost. In fact, it sounds like you've learnt well from the obstacles pushed in your way.

I myself had been through quite a bit when I was younger. But I truely believe, what doesn't destroy you, makes you stronger. And I read some of that strength in your poem's, keep it up.

I can actually relate to this poem, through some of the things that I am currently going through. I like it. I'm not that great in giving feedback about others works. All I can say is keep up the good work!
