Once the moon was so bright in the night,
I could stand and watch the bright light,
It would entertain me as though I am an audience,
I would applaud in earnest with a random choice,
To make my cry the loudest voice,
Once the moon was so bright in the night,
I would stand and watch that bright light,
Imagine how that would feel,
Warm but short and slippery like an eel,
In the end that light will remain bright,
Even if my eyes cannot sustain the sight,
My hands will clap but no one will hear,
Soon the audience will disappear,
For the light of the moon will give way to the sun,
The night is drawing to a close but I hope to see another one,
Maybe I will get my wish, maybe the light will shine again,
When it does I will be amazed just the same.
