No Detour

Today is the day

I know that for sure

I need to follow God’s plan

Without any detours

He’s been so good to me

Even giving me the key to Heaven’s gate

I guess He loves me more than I know

He’ll take me home with Him but I don’t know the date.

I’ve tried to stay on the righteous path

But I fail a lot of times

Sometimes I find I’m on a detour

I just can’t follow signs.

So many things go through my mind

Like a cold winter wind on a really dark night

It goes round and round and never stops

Until God says you finally got this one right

Don’t take the detour the devil throws in your path

He’s such a liar and a fooler of men

He’ll give you whatever you want

Just to make you sin.

I wish they made a GPS that would take you to Heaven’s gate

I’d program mine so it would be fate

I wouldn’t put in any detours

I wouldn’t want to be late.

There is one GPS that you can use

It’s called the Bible if you don’t know

If you read it and follow what it says

As a Christian you can grow.

If you don’t detour you can make this work

Do what God says and don’t act like a jerk.
