As you know this website is open to contributors of all abilities and of every nationality, provided contributions are written in English. This is what makes The Writers Circle an interesting and inclusive site to visit.
However, I am disappointed about the level of 'manipulation' of the competition which will adversely affect this website if I allow it to go unchecked.
Given the amount of work I have put into creating the site, I do not see that as fair!
It is pointless to continually vote for one's own work, or the work of a friend, just for the sake of it. It is not in the spirit of this site and it proves nothing about the quality of one's work.
We reserve the right to remove any article from the site which we believe to have bizarre or suspicious voting.
Or to award the prize to somebody we adjudge to merit it regardless of numerical score.
Or indeed, if all else fails, to remove the competition without notice - which would be a crying shame.
Help us keep the spirit of this site alive!
Thank you for your cooperation.

Comments, critiques and replies
I'm sure that it is just a blip Carl and that your comments will be taken on board. This is an excellent
site and a real inspiration to up and coming writers. In the knowledge that the site is being policed
will I'm sure deter any further indiscretions. I haven't been around for a while (personal matters) but
hope to get involved again shortly.

I have to admit I was beginning to feel that way too. I like this website and love reading what others
have written and receiving some honest input on my own stories. It is disappointing when you don't score
very high or comments are few, but that's the name of the game. One round I was quite proud of how well
I was scored and this time I'm at the bottom of the heap. But that's okay - I write because it's what
I love to do, and knowing what a passion it is for me encourages me to vote for the other writers when
I find a piece I really enjoy. What sense of accomplishment is to be gained or what pride can be taken
in your work if the prize is not based on the merit of your writing? I hope everyone takes what you've
said to heart and want you to know how much I appreciate the work you do to keep this website going.. | kreeves106 [40] | 17/03/2009 |

Until recently I belonged to another writer's site which held a competition with a US$1,000 first prize.
I entered and at one stage was was in first place. I noticed that within 5 hours the 2nd place book received
a new vote every 25 minutes, yet it was clear that the voters did not even read the work (there was a
system that permitted us to see how many people opened the work). I withdrew my entry, even though I was
in first place and withdrew all my works from that site.
I have joined this site because I do get a sense of fair play and there seems to be no obvious evidence
of it not being so. Therefore, to all on this site, let's keep it that way and be here and mindful of
the reason for the site and for our membership of it.
The world is not fair and that is just as true in creative environments as any others, so let's just do
what we can to have our hard work available for others to view and to comment on if they feel so inclined.
For me, that's enough. | Scottb [33] | 02/11/2009 |

My cynical side says that there will always be a few, or more, that want to cheat any system so I can
only wholeheartedly support Carl's comments here! | chum600 [58] | 02/12/2009 |
Very True.
It feels better to win a contest because people thought your article is great, rather than voting for
yourself several times, or having people vote for you 5/5 even if they don't like it.
Writers Circle is amazing! Lets keep the spirit of it alive.

Carl this is a obscure way of aproaching you however I have a couple of questions to ask 1/ when I have
recieved comments regarding my articles by the way of emails I have replied through the email does this
get to the person who sent the comment? or as I see on some sights people give a reply under the comment
made which is on your own sight how does that person know without returnig to the writers site?
2/ On my sight when putting on my info I went through my email section for peple to contact me. This did
transfer over but as kept into my email side how can I delete it without it effecting my info I did try
but it wouldn't work.
