Leona, My Dear Leona

What is it standing there still in the night
grazed with fright reaching inward cast
from the distance,

Crossing paths within flesh, gazing out
into reflections vanishing, perching on
a side bank with outstretched thoughts
turning into marble,

Breathe becoming silent veins no longer
pulsating, falling behind washed out walls
she hides within a gaunt cloak, her hands
grasping onto the Holy goblet searching
for salvation,

Leona, my dear Leona your whispers were
dulcet brushing upon my flesh, yet now
without I can not breath beneath the welkin,
nor have I strength, my flesh becoming frail
fallen beneath sable,

Leona, my dear Leona trace my lips to follow
you, take away my white feather as I lie above
your decay wailfully........

Lovely piece of writing. You use some unusual words! I don't even know what a welkin is -back to the dictionary!

Hi gwdare,

Whilst this gave me a glimpse into what you may have been trying to portray with this poem I could not see the entire image, but that may be because I am not as intelligent, as the target audience of this poem. Perhaps something a little simpler would enable readers to understand better what you are trying to convey.

Though interesting work keep it up.

Hi gdware,

Similarly I couldn't grasp the full meaning of the poem. There were points within it where I felt that I had figured it out and then it escaped me once again.

Still some wonderful imagery in it.

Good job.

I enjoy writing because it gives me the chance to live through someone else. To be able to create a story or poem is something wonderfull. Most of my poetry deals with the loss of someone. I have just ... (Read more)
