Good Bye to New York

"Sweetie, wake-up," my mom yelled up the stairs of our house. "You're gonna be late for school." With my eyes still closed, I walked from my room to the bathroom.

My name is Kasey Joe Huffman. I live with my mom in a very small, two story house in downtown New York City. I go to James Strananhan Jr. High School and I'm in the seventh grade. Painting is my hobby. I love to feel my brush flow across the canvas and hope a picture comes out. My room is my gallery, there's nothing but my paintings and bed in the room. The Closet is another story. It is packed with all my clothes but I like my room.

Walking back into my room, I picked out my regular wardrobe of baggy blue jeans and a crop top. I grabbed two pony tails off the dresser and threw my hair up in high, sloppy pig tails. I brushed out my bangs, grabbed my back pack and walked down stairs.

"I made pancakes for you," my mom said when I walked through the kitchen on my way out. "No time," I said grabbing a pancake without slowing my pace. "Bye Mom" and I shut the door. I ran down our street and stopped at the house third from the corner, I sat on one of the steps leading up to the porch. I waited about five seconds till Jamie stepped out.

Jamie is one of two best friends in my life. Going to the same schools and living on the same street our whole lives made us destined to be best friends. "Hey" she said walking down the porch steps. I stood up and gave her a nod. "GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE" I said with an overly enthusiastic smile. "Don't start" she said with a very small smile curling at the edge of her lips. "Let's go" I said after a small pause, and we headed off toward school.

When we got to the front steps of the school a boy on a skate board zoomed past us. It was Lance. "Hey" I said looking straight at him and hunching over my back as if I were Mrs. Cathy the Principal. "You kids know there is no skate boarding on school property. "Shut up" he said stopping his skate board right next to us. I have known Lance for about three years and he is also one of my best friends. We have one thing in common; we both love to skate board, and that alone made us best friends.

The school bell rang and we all ran up the steps and through the doors to our classes. That day at school went the same as everyday. We went to all our classes and ate the parts of our lunch that looked like food. When school let out I ran down the steps to the courtyard to Jamie and Lance. "You ready to go?" Lance said. "Yeah let's go" I said back. Lance and Jamie hopped on there skate boards and took off. I pulled my skate board out of my back pack and followed my friends to our favorite after school activity at the skate park.

I thought you did a great job on this. The quality of the writing seemed like it was coming from a much older person than a 13 year old. Keep up the great writing!
